Dr. Griffin’s first speaking engagement since returning from speaking on the topic of 9/11 in Canada. He has made appearances in relation to 9/11 on BBC, MSNBC, CBC, CSPAN, local US television and radio stations, and has given talks to many large audiences across the U.S. and Europe.
The purpose of Dr. Griffin’s talk is to introduce his new book, “Debunking 9/11 Debunking: An Answer to Popular Mechanics and Other Defenders of the Official Conspiracy Theory”, due out in May.
The defenders of the official 9/11 conspiracy theory have reacted to a May 2006 Zogby Poll which showed that 42% of Americans reject the official theory, and have responded by producing a variety of publications designed to debunk the evidence of the 9/11 truth movement.
Dr. Griffin, in turn, applies his logical and philosophical rigor to the shifting accounts from the U.S. Dept. of State, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Vanity Fair, the New York Times, Time Magazine, and others, adeptly reversing their claims that the 9/11 truth movement (backed by many scholars and military and intelligence insiders) is irrational and unscientific. The inescapable proof from firemen, police and air traffic controllers is that 9/11 was an inside job. (Sample oral histories from the firemen are cited in Dr. Griffin's article, Explosive Testimony: Revelations about the Twin Towers in the 9/11 Oral Histories.
Dr. Griffin has written four earlier books meticulously analyzing 9/11 evidence: “The New Pearl Harbor” (2004), “The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions” (2005), “Christian Faith and the Truth Behind 9/11” (2006) and, “9/11 and American Empire” (2006, with Peter Dale Scott). He received the Helios Foundation Award in 2006 for the first two of these books.
Author of over 30 books and 180 scholarly articles, Griffin is one of some 60 theologians worldwide included in the prestigious “Handbook of Christian Theologians” and received the Book Prize of the Scientific and Medical Network in 2000 for “Religion and Scientific Naturalism” (2000).

Debunking 9/11 Debunking: An Answer to Popular Mechanics and Other Defenders of the Official Conspiracy Theory David Ray Griffin

“David Ray Griffin’s Debunking 9/11 Debunking is a superb compendium of the strong body of evidence showing the official U.S. Government story of what happened on September 11, 2001 to be almost certainly a monstrous series of lies. Tragically, the entire course of U.S. foreign and domestic policies since that date has grown out of these almost certain falsehoods. This single book could (and should) provide the basis for the United Nations? International Court of Justice, or some specially constituted global body (independent of the U.S.) to investigate with highest priority, and publicly report its findings about, the charge that unknown elements within the U.S. Government, and possibly some individuals elsewhere closely allied to the U.S., caused or contributed to causing the events of September 11 to happen.”---Bill Christison, former senior official of the CIA.
“Considering how the 9/11 tragedy has been used by the Bush administration to propel us into immoral wars again and again, I believe that David Ray Griffin's provocative questions about 9/11 deserve to be investigated and addressed.”—-Howard Zinn, author of A People’s History of the United States
"Professor Griffin is the nemesis of the 9/11 cover-up. This new book destroys the credibility of the NIST and Popular Mechanics reports and annihilates his critics."---Paul Craig Roberts, Assistant Secretary of the US Treasury during the Reagan administration
“David Ray Griffin hits another one out of the park by taking on the left gatekeepers and the mass media for the lies and cover-up called ‘the official story of 9/11/01,’ which is the greatest conspiracy theory ever perpetrated on the American public. I highly recommend this book for all thinking Americans.”---Meria Heller, Producer Host of the Meria Heller Show (www.meria.net).
9/11 and American Empire: Intellectuals Speak Out Edited by David Ray Griffin and Peter Dale Scott
 |
“It has long been clear that the Bush-Cheney administration cynically exploited the attacks of 9/11 to promote its imperial designs. But the present volume confronts us with evidence for an even more disturbing conclusion: that the 9/11 attacks were themselves orchestrated by this administration precisely so they could be thus exploited. If this is true, it is not merely the case, as the Downing Street memos show, that the stated reason for attacking Iraq was a lie. It is also the case that the whole “war on terror” was based on a prior deception. This book hence confronts the American people---indeed the people of the world as a whole---with an issue second to none in importance and urgency. I give this book, which in no way can be dismissed as the ravings of ‘paranoid conspiracy theorists,’ my highest possible recommendation.”---Ray McGovern, former CIA analyst and founder of VIPS (Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity)
"For far too long, the very reasonable questions raised by 9/11 have been ignored and even ridiculed by America's press and politicians, who treat the subject with the sort of willful blindness that suggests a wish not to find out unpleasant truths. We, the people, therefore owe the editors of this important new collection our warm thanks for their intelligent and unrelenting work."---Mark Crispin Miller, Professor of Culture and Communications, New York University, and author of Cruel and Unusual: Bush/Cheney's New World Order and Fooled Again: How the Right Stole the 2004 Election and Why They’ll Steal the Next One Too (Unless We Stop Them)
Christian Faith and the Truth Behind 9/11: A Call to Reflection and Action David Ray Griffin
"Professor David Ray Griffin has a well-deserved reputation for the thoroughness of his research. All Americans who love their country enough to dig into the facts of these critical times will be well rewarded by examining his books. 9/11 truth is a very important issue---one with the power to bring lasting change to our country.”-—The Reverend William Sloane Coffin Jr, author of Credo: Letters to a Young Doubter and A Passion for the Possible: A Message to U.S. Churches
"David Griffin has previously made the case for the Bush administration’s complicity in 9/11 and the cover-up of this evidence by the 9/11 Commission. Here, in this important book, he puts these shocking realities in the context of Christian theology and the challenge to the churches. In a profound exploration of the nature and history of the demonic, Griffin suggests that American empire is a culmination of human demonic alienation from God."-—Rosemary Radford Ruether, emeritus scholar, Claremont Graduate University and Claremont School of Theology
“In two earlier books, David Ray Griffin established himself as one of the foremost researchers into 9/11. This book is of immensely greater scope and importance. . . . It sees the contemporary world clearly and synoptically in an informed Christian perspective, so that it makes questions of theodicy and the roots of evil as contemporary as the events of 9/11. Even though it makes some claims and arguments I disagree with, I consider this one of the most significant and original books I have ever read. -—Peter Dale Scott, author of Drugs, Oil, and War: The United States in Afghanistan, Colombia, and Indochina
"WARNING: If, like most Americans calling themselves Christian, you prefer the comfort of acquiescing in the official version of 9/11 and the imperial wars it facilitated, DROP THIS BOOK NOW. But if you are open to the grace of honest inquiry and the risk of following the historical Jesus in confronting the evils of empire, this rigorously argued book is a MUST READ.”---Ray McGovern, CIA veteran analyst now with Tell the Word, a project of the ecumenical Church of the Saviour, Washington, D.C.
“Do American Christians want the United States to act like the New Rome, invading other countries to impose its imperial rule and its control of other peoples’ resources? That, however, is just what the US is doing, increasingly so since 9/11, explains David Griffin. In this gripping summary of evidence for the truth behind 9/11 and the 9/11 Commission report, Griffin makes a compelling case that the imperial practices of the American government have become a destructive force in the world. And he clarifies the biblical and theological basis for Christians to challenge the resurgent American imperialism that often claims divine blessing on its destructive actions.” -—Richard A. Horsley, Distinguished Professor of Liberal Arts and the Study of Religion, University of Massachusetts, and author of Jesus and Empire: The Kingdom of God and the New World Disorder
The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions By David Ray Griffin
“With this new book, David Ray Griffin establishes himself, alongside Seymour Hersh, as America’s number one bearer of unpleasant, yet necessary, public truths.”--Richard Falk, professor emeritus, Princeton University
“In this masterful sequel to The New Pearl Harbor, David Ray Griffin unveils a disparity between official 9/11 "spin" and independently researched 9/11 fact so glaring as to suggest the possibility of a constitutional crisis unlike anything our country has ever known."--Burns H. Weston, Professor of Law Emeritus, University of Iowa
“Through an incisive and carefully documented review, David Ray Griffin skillfully refutes the findings of the 9/11 Commission and questions the official "bipartisan" account of what happened. He shows how the dramatic events of September 11 were used by the Bush Administration, through media disinformation, to mislead public opinion, with a view to justifying the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq under the banner of the global ‘war on terrorism.’”--Michel Chossudovsky, Centre for Research on Globalization/University of Ottawa
“This is a painstaking and devastating demolition of the lies transmitted by The 9/11 Commission Report, and also the new lies invented by it in an effort to reconcile the government’s impossible chronologies. Time after time, David Ray Griffin uses credible eyewitness accounts to refute the Report’s methods and allegations, particularly with respect to the stand-down and shoot-down orders issued on that infamous September 11 and the attack on the Pentagon. Those concerned with preserving our Republic in these troubled times should pay particular attention to his focus on the disturbing behavior of the core group who appear on that day to have misdirected the defenses of our country. In the coming national debate over 9/11, Griffin’s book will strengthen the cause of those who believe that the best defense for democracy is not blind fealty to leaders, but the truth.”--Peter Dale Scott, author of Drugs, Oil, and War: The United States in Afghanistan, Colombia, and Indochina
The New Pearl Harbor: Disturbing Questions about the Bush Administration and 9/11 by David Ray Griffin Foreword by Richard Falk
“David Ray Griffin has written an extraordinary book. If carefully read with even just a 30-percent open mind, it is almost certain to change the way we understand the workings of constitutional democracy in the United States at the highest levels of government. . . . It is rare, indeed, that a book has this potential to become a force of history.--From the foreword by Richard Falk
"David Ray Griffin has done admirable and painstaking research in reviewing the mysteries surrounding the 9-11 attacks. It is the most persuasive argument I have seen for further investigation of the Bush administration's relationship to that historic and troubling event."-- Howard Zinn, author of A People’s History of the United States
“This is an important, extraordinarily well-reasoned and provocative book that should be widely read. Griffin raises disturbing questions that deserve thoughtful and truthful answers from our government.--Marcus Raskin, co-founder of the Institute for Policy Studies
"David Griffin's The New Pearl Harbor belongs on the book shelves of all those who, in any way, doubt the veracity of the accounts presented to the public by the Bush administration concerning the worst terrorist attack in America's history. The facts presented in this book are disturbing -- and they should be. Griffin's book goes a long way in answering the age-old question inherent in American political scandals: What did the President know, and when did he know it?"-- Wayne Madsen, author, journalist, syndicated columnist
“David Ray Griffin has written what America may most of all need - a dispassionate, balanced and exhaustively researched and documented account of the implausible gaps and misrepresentations of the Bush administration’s official story of 9/11. Sensitive to the “conspiracy theory” mind-stop that has disconnected his fellow Americans from the facts of this history-steering event, Griffin painstakingly marshals the evidence pro and con, and follows it where it leads. A courageously impeccable work.”--John McMurtry, author of Value Wars: The Global Market versus the Life Economy, Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and Professor of Philosophy, University of Guelph
"This is a very important book. David Ray Griffin's carefully researched and documented study demonstrates a high level of probability that the Bush administration was complicit in allowing 9/11 to happen in order to further war plans that had already been made. A must read for anyone concerned about American foreign policy under the present administration."--Rosemary Radford Ruether, Carpenter Professor of Feminist Theology, Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, California
The American Empire and the Commonwealth of God: A Political, Economic, Religious Statement David Ray Griffin, John B. Cobb Jr., Richard Falk, & Catherine Keller
"This is an enormously urgent and important book. It builds on the finest new biblical scholarship in viewing the scriptural setting of the reign of God against empire and suggests how all the religious traditions can---and must---contribute to an unprecedented civilizational transformation. I plan to use it in my own teaching and to commend it to everyone I know."---Harvey Cox, Hollis Professor of Divinity, Harvard Divinity School
“In this timely and important book, these four authors relentlessly analyze the political, economic, and historical issues with the construction of American empire and unmask the idolatry of its religious justifications. But they also envision alternatives to American empire in global relations and ways to imagine a more just and sustainable global society.”---Rosemary Radford Ruether, Carpenter Professor of Feminist Theology, Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley
"Three outstanding theologians and one of the world’s leading experts on international policy issues have joined forces to deliver a scathing critique of the aims, policies, impact, and pretensions of the American Empire. While their criticisms may be familiar to some readers, it is their alternative futures that offer such a practical and morally compelling alternative to the disaster that looms ahead. Anyone concerned about the future of American world leadership must read this book.”---Joseph C. Hough Jr., President and William E. Dodge Professor of Social Ethics, Union Theological Seminary, New York
