Many national and regional advocates, speakers and authors and general supporters lack sophisticated computer support that might help them in many areas.  We are here to provide a meeting place between technical volunteers and activists that might need their help.

Is anybody home? As the first post here, let me begin.

I'm here to help and be helped.

I have operating system experience since the mid 60's - ALGOL 60, COBOL, FORTRAN IV, and BASIC through the Unices, the BDS's, DOS, to windoze, Darwin and GNU/Linux. I have a working knowledge of several networking protocols and methods and current low level languages and regularly use shell scripting, perl and html to accomplish my tasks. I call myself a 'bit pusher'. I know how the digital world works, including dealing with the IANA, DN registrars and hosting services, though am not always up to date with the latest bells and whistles. The command line is my friend. I am often lost when it comes to the current world of in your face graphical environments (it is completely unnecessary to my tasks and I often see it as a waste of effort that could have been put to better use).

I would like to discuss how we can assist each other as well as how to use the net (and digital mediums as a whole) to help make _our_ view of a _globalized_ world into the consensual democracy that is not only necessary for the continuation of our species, but will enable us to become an enlightened, peaceful, co-existing organism.
